COMPETITION INFORMATION

The 2008 NZ Inter Zone Championships are to be held over the weekend of the 7AM Saturday 13th - 1PM Sunday 14th October 2007 Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie, Wellington.

The purpose of the Championships is to bring together the best Under 18 Players for 2 days of intense competition under International rules in preparation for the NZ u19 team’s.

The Underwater Hockey areas for Inter-zone competition purposes are defined as:
Northern: North of the Bombay Hills
Mid Northern: South of Northern, and north of a line from Waitara through Taupo to Napier/Hastings, and including all those centres.
Central: The rest of the North Island
Top of South: North of a line from Westport to Kaikoura, and including those centres.
Mid South: South of Top-South, and north of a line from Haast to Timaru, and including those centres.
Southern: The rest of the South Island

Two grades are being offered: U18 Boys, U18 Girls

Teams can have a maximum of 10 players only. The NZ U19 Squads will be named at the tournament prize-giving.

All players must be registered on the UWHNZ Player Database by having paid their affiliation levies. You can check players are registered on the club register located in the membership area of the UWHNZ website.

There is a possibility that random drug testing will be conducted during the championships.

Zones must supply 2 qualified L2 referees or must pay $150 per referee not supplied. Alternatively you can send at least 2 members on the Level 2 Referees Course .
